News Canon
While the principle point of the game is to maintain continuity with canon following the release of the fifth book, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, we acknowledge that this is impossible to predict and as such, character interpretations will be the order of the day.

FEATURE CHARACTERS
We ask that players of Feature Characters contact staff periodically with updates on 'important' events in their roleplay, and prefer to be contacted before roleplay of a potentially canon-altering nature occurs. While we will not penalize players for going ahead with roleplay in the absence of staff, we do ask that we be contacted and brought up to date as quickly as possible. We reserve the right to step in on any roleplay deemed out of canon and move the roleplay in question to 'What If' status.

Feature Characters will also be required to attend one meeting per month to bring staff up to date on their roleplay. This meeting will be held at the same time and same date every month (9:00 EST on the first Sunday of every month, for example), so in the event that you cannot attend the meeting for a month, advance warning is greatly appreciated, and a @mail to the *Staff alias containing your report for the month will be expected.

News Consent
We are a Partial Consent mush. This means that you have the right to refuse your consent to a scene or outcome which would damage your enjoyment of roleplay, or which strikes you as being out of canon. In the same manner, other players have the right to refuse you their consent for the same reasons. HOWEVER, we do apply ICC (In Character Consequences) where applicable, though we will strive to discuss the outcome with players wherever possible. What this means :

If Suzie Slytherin betrays Gerald Gryffindor's trust, breaking a promise and spreading the information all over the school, Gerald Gryffindor is entitled to pursue _IC_ means of getting even. They must fall within the guidelines for his character; Suzie Slytherin cannot, however, say 'I don't consent to him spreading a nasty rumour about ME' unless she can provide good reason why Gerald Gryffindor would a) not perform the act, b) the rumour is based on OOC information, or c) reason why the activity would fail ICly.

Similiarly, if Gerald Gryffindor does gain Suzie's consent, and rather than spreading a rumour, attacks her physically in the Great Hall, Gerald should expect heavy consequences from faculty, up to and possibly including expulsion from Hogwarts for attacking another student.

Needless to say, consent should be sought from fellow PCs -before- bringing it to staff. If there is doubt as to whether or not an activity would break canon, please ask staff.
